HunterStone Adds
Learning Management System Interoperability to
Yale New Haven Health System Online Courses
Orlando, FL
– From the Society for Applied Learning
Technology (SALT) New Learning Technologies 2008 conference
in Orlando HunterStone presented and released its newest
SCORM eLearning Customer Solution Case Study.
Mark Schneider from Yale New Haven Health (YNH) and Tom
Winterstein from HunterStone co-presented a case study and
described how
the Yale-New Haven team was faced
with the issues of converting existing
online courses to SCORM conformant courses
for use within multiple Learning Management
Systems (LMS).
The YNH team turned to Yale University Web Services
Group, and as SCORM consultant, HunterStone, Inc.
for custom hosting and SCORM conversion solutions
which supported a variety of accessibility options.
Technologies and tools were added to the LMS
as a component of a comprehensive internal
e-learning solution.
These innovations included custom portals,
delivery standards (SCORM), partner LMS reporting
tools, registration enhancements, linking, remote
hosting and supporting a blending of public,
private, university, corporate and military
requirements for healthcare education and training.
The result of this interoperability
initiative was a series of online courses and
solutions addressing emergency preparedness topics
for healthcare workers in a variety of disciplines.
The programs are widely recognized and
distributed nationally.
Mark Schneider from the Office of
Emergency Preparedness at Yale-New Haven Health System
stated “HunterStone provided us with a
reliable and proven solution to convert our online courses
to SCORM. Their
project delivery time was important to us as market needs
were quickly changing.
Their team of SCORM experts were instrumental in
meeting our goals and objectives”
HunterStone's THESIS is a suite of eLearning tools which
adheres to the SCORM specifications and integrates with
Microsoft Office. This enables a user to author eLearning
resources and objects straight from familiar Microsoft
Office applications such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio
and Producer. The THESIS "Learning Object Manager" allows a
user to author complete SCORM courses and quizzes for online
instruction, using multiple learning objects from different
sources. THESIS Librarian "SCORM enables" Microsoft
SharePoint to create Learning Object Repositories where
subject matter experts can collaborate on course development
and also use the tool as a meta-data manager.
HunterStone utilized both THESIS and its vast SCORM
knowledge to create a customized solution for YNH.
THESIS
is ADL certified and integrates with SCORM 1.2 and 2004
Learning Management Systems including but not limited to:
Angel Learning, Aspen/Docent, BlackBoard, Desire2Learn,
